چکیده

Figure 1. Our current understanding of the phylogenetic relationships of nematodes. The main panel shows the phylogeny of the major nematode groups, information about ecological range and presence of parasites (black bars indicate definitive hosts, grey bars intermediate hosts), and some representative genera. Phylogenetic relationships within Nematoda currently rely mostly on small-subunit rRNA sequences, but this gene provides surprisingly good resolution even when hundreds of species are included. There are three large monophyletic groups: the mostly marine Enoplia, Dorylaimia that include the parasitic trichinellids and mermithids, and Chromadoria with nematodes of all habitats and life styles. Most animal parasites belong to Spirurina, but hookworms (Strongylida) are found in Rhabditina along with Caenorhabditis elegans. Recent analyses with whole genomes for a smaller number of species as well as features of early embryonic development support Enoplia as the first branch of the nematode tree. (Adapted with permission from De Ley, P.A. (2006).) (Inset) Nematodes in the tree of life. All recent phylogenetic studies, using sequence data from a variety of genes and species, place Nematoda together with its sistergroup Nematomorpha (Gordian worms) as the closest relatives of Panarthropoda (arthropods, onychophorans and tardigrades) in a clade that is sometimes called Ecdysozoa. Susceptibility Assessments of Tomato Genotypes to Root Knot Nematodes, Meloidogyne javanica

Root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp., are one of the important plant parasitic nematodes of tomato in the world. The most suitable control method of plant parasitic nematodes is the use of resistance sources and tolerant cultivars. In the earlier studies, the results showed thatonly 2% (19 out of 537 varieties) were resistant and tolerant to the root knot nematodes. In the supplementary studie...

Biopesticides from Entomopathogenic Nematodes

Karimipour Fard H. and Saeidi K. 2019. Biopesticides from entomopathogenic nematodes   Plant Pathology Science 8(1): 60-73. DOI: 10.2982/PPS.8.1.60.   In the recant decade, biopesticides with entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) have been developed with using different methods and materials. But the production of such biopesticides has always accompanied by some limitations such as low quality o...

ارزیابی کمّی خسارت بیماری نوک سفیدی برگ برنج ناشی از نماتود Aphelenchoides besseyi در شرایط گلخانه و میکروپلات

In order to estimate the loss of rice caused by white tip nematode, (Aphelenchoides besseyi), to Alikazemi cv., two series of experiments were conducted in greenhouse and microplot conditions at Rice Research Institute, Rasht (Guilan province) during 2005-2006. The microplots sizes were 0.5×2 meter. Rice seedlings were inoculated by plastic tube method with 0, 100, 300, 500, 700 and 900 nematod...

Antibacterial Activities of Extracellular Metabolites of Symbiotic Bacteria, Xenorhabdus and Photorhabdus Isolated from Entomopathogenic Nematodes

Xenorhabdus and Photorhabdus are members of the family Enterobacteriaceae, and are engaged in a mutualistic association with the entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema and Heterorhabditis, respectively. In the present study, the organic fraction of ethyl acetate bacterial crude extracts of the symbiotic bacteria, Xenorhabdus stockiae and Photorhabdus luminescens isolated from entomopathogenic ...

Nematodes associated with Zea mays and their control through organic soil amendments

On a survey during the period of 2006-2007 a number of tylenchids were found associated with Zea mays in Kashmir valley such as Pratylenchus sativus kaul, 1985, Aphelenchoides srinagrensis Kaul, 1985 and Tylenchorhynchus zeae Sethi and G. Swarp, 1968. These species were found to have morphometric variations probably due to habitat alteration from the originally described ones. As a part of the ...
